Allotment Tidy Up- Sunday 9 March
We’re looking for helpers this Sunday 9 March to help tidy up the allotment in time for April planting. If you can spare an hour or two from 11am, we’d really appreciate some help weeding the beds and raking them over. Tools, gloves and pastries supplied!
Come to the allotment opposite the top playground. All ages welcome as we’ll have jobs for everyone.
World Book Day
We had a brilliant day celebrating World Book Day, focusing on the theme’ Read your Way’. We had an assembly on the challenges children face to find time to read for fun. We shared ideas of how to continue to enjoy reading and how to make time to read. The children enjoyed the activity of the reading mood board, where they shared their views on what does reading feel like for you and how they like to read. It was reassuring that the children all drew or wrote hearts, smiley faces and said reading was exciting. Click here for the presentation shared with the children.
Weekly Collective Worship
As we enter the lead up to Easter the children are exploring the events that happen before Easter Sunday. This week, we went to St Peter's for our Monday worship where we learnt about how Jesus met his disciples and asked them to follow him. The children were a bit unsure if they would leave everything behind and follow someone they didn't know. We talked about what makes a good leader and a good follower. The children felt a leader needed to be kind and be able to explain things to others and a follower had to be good at listening and doing things they had been asked.
SMART watches and devices
We have seen an increase of watches and devices coming into school that are able to take pictures. Due to safeguarding statutory requirements, if SMART watches are in school, they must be set to airplane mode as the school has strict guidance to follow on the use of images. As a school we strongly urge these devices are left at home and ideally the children to wear an ordinary wristwatch.
Kindness Ambassadors
Our Kindness Ambassadors were spreading the joy of reading by visiting Nursery and Reception to read stories to them and share their favourite books together. The children enjoyed having the older children being role models for reading and having a chance to share their ideas about the stories read. Our next kindness event is having the School of Kindness visit on Wednesday 26 March and run workshops for KS1 around the theme of kindness.
Prayer Bears
This week we would like to introduce some new members of the Victoria family - our class Prayer Bears. Each class has a Prayer Bear who will be sent home with a member of the class every Friday. Whilst you have the bear, it would be wonderful if you could have a think about the new school values of kindness, respect, resilience and thankfulness. You could add some pictures, drawings, thoughts or a prayer to the class notebook. Just make sure the bear is back in school by the following Thursday, ready to go on its next adventure.
We are looking forward to seeing how you show and spot our school values with your bear.
Nursery Admissions for September 2025
We were also excited about our Stay and Play for new Nursery parents looking for a place to start from September 2025. This was a wonderful opportunity for the children and families to come and see our nursery. They got to play with the resources and families got a chance to meet the team.
