Graduation Day- Little Wandle

After starting Little Wandle over 15 months ago, we have just graduated from the English Hub with flying colours.  Our advisor observed lessons, reading groups and interventions across Reception and YR1.  From the observations, the advisor was impressed with the fidelity to the scheme (using the different phrases and phonic language), the consistent high-quality teaching of phonics and reading of all staff (teachers and TAs) and the reading fluency where children read with expression and understanding. It was even discussed that we could become a Champion School for other schools to observe how we teach phonics using Little Wandle!

Classes for September

We will be sending out a letter to all families soon to share with you the staffing for classes for 2025/2026. As part of our transition support, while new Nursery and Reception children come for Stay and Plays, the rest of the school will also move up to their new year group (except current YR2).  The first one is Tuesday and this will be an opportunity for your child to see the classrooms and get to know more about what it is like in that year group. The KS1 children will not be finding out their class teacher until the day we send the letter to families.

Bubble Rush- Thank you

In Celebration Worship, we celebrated all of the children and staff who took part in Bubble Rush.  Thank you to everyone who donated to the staff team, we raised over £350 for The Hospice of St Francis.  I also have a special mention for Clay in YR2 who raised £200 by contacting family and friends himself.

Hot Weather- hats and water bottles

With the weather alert of a heatwave and the warm weather continuing next week, can all children have a hat and water bottle (named) in school.

Love Day

The children had a lovely day exploring what love meant to them. It also was an opportunity to explore our vision of 'Flourishing in Learning and Love'.  Some of the ideas of what love is were:

  • Love is when I am cuddled.
  • Love is being kind.
  • Love is people saying thank you and you are welcome to me.
  • Love is everything.

Sports Days- Tuesday 1 July (Nursery only) and Wednesday 2 July (Reception to YR2)

We have changed the format for our Sports Day for Reception to YR2.  This year we have booked Game On to organise the activities with the help of Mrs Stiles (PE Lead).

Sports Day (except Nursery) will be held on Butts Meadow and will start at 9.40 and will finish 11.30ish. The children will be in teams and take part in a variety of athletic activities.  Please can you make sure all children have hats and water bottles in school and come into school wearing their PE kit. We welcome families to come and support their children, there may be a grown up race so come prepared!

Sports Day for Nursery will be held on the school playground and families can come at watch. Please come in via Butts Meadow for a 9.15 start.

Due to availability of Game On and staffing, we unfortunately haven’t been able to hold both sports days on the same day. If we have to postpone, we will let you know at drop off.

Thank You- Summer Fair

It was wonderful to see so many families at the school fair last Saturday. The staff at Victoria would like to say a big thank you to the VSA and the army of volunteers who without them, all the stalls and games would not happen.  The VSA raised a massive £3,270 for the school with your support and was helped a little by Miss Walker getting sponged.
