12 September 2025

Welcome back after a lovely summer of sun! Over the holidays there has been lots of reorganising, tidying up (3 skips were ordered) and preparing the school for the new term which has left the school looking all revitalised. The staff were very excited to discover the staffroom had been given a face lift, making it a more welcoming place to enjoy a cuppa or two.

Walking around the school, the classrooms are calm and a hive of activity. There have been a few tired faces (and that is just the staff) near the end of the week, however there were lots of positive comments from the children about their new classes and teachers.

I would like to give a warm welcome to our youngest children starting school with us. Watching the Nursery and Reception children coming in happily and independently showed how much the brilliant work the EYFS team did before the summer holidays to support a smooth transition.

Congratulations to Mrs Jackson Suddick
We would like to share the exciting information that Mrs Jackson Suddick is expecting her second child in February. Please join with us to congratulate her on this wonderful news.
Meet the Teacher and Curriculum Summary
Thank you to all the families that attended the Meet the Teacher event on Thursday. We appreciate that this year the date was given out at short notice and will make sure that it is booked in the diary before the summer holidays, for next year. All the PowerPoints are being uploaded to the class pages as well as a curriculum summary for the autumn term. This outlines the main learning areas being taught in each year group.

Little Wandle Phonic Workshop on Tuesday 23 September
I would like to invite Reception and YR1 parents to the phonic workshop on Tuesday 23 September at 9.15am. The workshop will talk about how we teach reading at Victoria and how you can support at home. As learning to read has changed so much since we were all at school, it is a really useful workshop to attend, especially when it comes to pronouncing the sounds correctly.
Spiritual Ambassadors (YR2 only)- extended deadline for applications

It has been great to have applications from the the YR2 children wanting to become Spiritual Ambassadors.  As the applications were given before the holidays, they may have been forgotten about so we would like to extend the deadline to Monday. To download a copy of the application form click here.

After School Club on Tuesday 16 September
On Tuesday, we are unable to provide hot food for pupils attending ASC. There will be a packed lunch tea offered instead. This will consist of cheese or ham sandwiches, cucumber, crisps and a digestive biscuit. All allergies will be catered for.

VSA Update
As we’ve started a new school year, a new VSA team has been crafted ✨ We need all the help we can get, and that’s where you come in…

Do you have any special skills or secret talents - maybe something you could offer to raise money for the school in one of our exciting auctions? Perhaps you’ve been longing to host a class but don’t know where to start… Any wreath makers, entertainers, singers, DJs, chefs…? Or maybe your business could support us with a prize or donation for a school event.

Please shout and let us know - the VSA is a great chance to build a community and for everyone to get involved. Please email us at: vsa@victoria.herts.such.uk. We can’t wait to get started!
