Reception Explorer WoW Day

The Reception children were explorers for the day where they started the day on a hunt using clues to explore the school. Throughout the day they made maps, binoculars, footprint identification and even had a sing song around the Explorer Fire Pit.

Stanley's Stick Musical Performance-YR1

YR1 enjoyed interacting with an online musical experience of Stanley's Stick. Each child followed the adventures of Stanley with their own stick.

We begin with a performance of Stanley’s Stick, accompanied by the Northern Chamber Orchestra. Then the second half was a live reconstruction of the story with the illustrator of Stanley's stick, using ideas from children around the country. Click here to re-watch the musical adventure.

YR2 Forest School Morning at Thomas Coram

The YR2 children went to Thomas Coram on Wednesday to explore their Forest School. They enjoyed taking part in the different activities as part of their transition to YR3.

Quote from Freddie R- "We got lots of leaves and put them under paper then used pastels to make leaf rubbings. It was lots of fun and the best bit was making the bug hotel, we didn’t put any bugs in it but are waiting for them to come."

Oracy Homework Conversation Starters

This week the oracy task to discuss is:Oracy | St. Aidan's Primary School – A Church of England Academy

Is it ever ok to cheat?

Use these sentence starters to help:

  • I think...

  • In my opinion...

Encourage your child to turn and face you to talk and use a clear voice when talking.  A fun way to help with turn taking when talking, is to have an object that you hold and you can only talk when you have the object in your hand.

Art Club

Our ‘Toys aRt Us’ art project inspired by artist Robert C. Jackson has come to an end. The children have done very well and have come up with lovely drawings.

You can view the children's artwork here Victoria on-line art gallery.

Head Lice

We have recently been made aware of cases of head lice in school. To support parents in treating head lice, we want to make sure families have the right information and support to help prevent the spread. Please take a few minutes to check your child’s hair regularly and treat if necessary. Head lice can affect anyone and are spread by close head-to-head contact, not by poor hygiene. You can find up-to-date, reliable advice on how to check for and treat head lice on the NHS website
here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice-and-nits/
