A very warm welcome back to all of our children and families as we begin another exciting school year at Victoria. It has been a delight to see the children return to school with such enthusiasm, happy to reconnect with friends, staff and familiar routines.

I would also like to extend a particularly warm welcome to our youngest children who are joining us in Nursery and Reception this year. Seeing them arrive so happily and confidently, settling into their new routines with such independence, has been wonderful. This is a real testament to the excellent transition work carried out by our EYFS team before the summer holidays, which helped ensure a smooth and positive start for all our new children and families.

At Victoria, we are committed to creating an environment where every child can flourish, feel valued and develop a lifelong love of learning.

We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead, working together to ensure that every child continues to flourish, develops a lifelong love of learning, and achieves their very best in all aspects of school life.

School Priorities

Our priorities for this year will be focusing on the areas for development from the Ofsted Inspection, continuing with embedding oracy across the school with launching Victoria Voice and developing our enrichment offer.

Victoria Voice is linked to the project we started in developing oracy where teachers plan purposeful and engaging talk in lessons, setting high expectations of talk in and around the school and create agreed consistencies for oracy, using the Castle Way and symbols. More information will be added to our website over the year.

Developing our enrichment offer will be focusing on how we can be 'Agents of Change' by working together to take responsibility to enable change. This will include discussing with the children who to support to help, gathering opinions and listening to questions from the children to talk about what that change will look like. Roles like Green Guardians and Kindness Ambassadors will also be supporting the school.

Miss Fitzpatrick leaving

We are sad to announce that Miss Fitzpatrick will be leaving Victoria on Friday 18 September.

Miss Fitzpatrick is embarking on an exciting new adventure as she pursues a career in the Fire Service and focuses on securing a place on their training programme. While we will be sorry to see her go, we are delighted that she is following her ambitions and wish her every success for the future.

I am sure you will join us in wishing Miss Fitzpatrick all the very best over the coming weeks before she leaves. We are extremely grateful for her dedication, hard work and commitment to Victoria over the years. She will be greatly missed by staff and pupils alike.

We thank Miss Fitzpatrick for everything she has contributed to our school community and wish her every success in this exciting new chapter.

Little Wandle Phonic Workshop on Tuesday 22 September

I would like to invite Reception and YR1 parents to the phonic workshop on Tuesday 23 September at 9.15am. The workshop will talk about how we teach reading at Victoria and how you can support at home. As learning to read has changed so much since we were all at school, it is a really useful workshop to attend, especially when it comes to pronouncing the sounds correctly.

After School Clubs

Thank you for bearing with us as we changed the booking process for Captain's Club. Mrs Allen will be back on Monday to answer any outstanding queries. For any urgent bookings, please always contact the office who will be able to book you on.

Eco- Schools Green Flag

We are very pleased to announce that with the help of the Green Guardians, Victoria Infant and Nursery School has been successful, achieving Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Merit.

Spiritual Ambassadors (YR2 only)

As we start the new term, we are looking for YR2 children who would be interested in becoming a Spiritual Ambassador. If your child is interested, click here for details about the role and application form. Please can these be returned to their class teacher and after the deadline we will announce our new Spiritual Ambassadors.

To ensure our registers are up to date each day, it is important that if you are late that you go to the office and use our electronic sign in. This links to our registers and automatically updates that your child is now in school. The gate is closed at 8.30am.
